Bike Freight do not operate their own vehicle network, it is outsourced only. As such standard liability cover is in line with the terms of our courier partner to whom we outsource the carriage of your goods, and additional
cover is provided by a 3rd party insurer. For details on the specific insurance terms and conditions and / or liability cover in question please request these as they can be provided to you upon request.
Carriage liability (insurance)
Standard liability is in line with the carrier that the work has been outsourced to. Increased liability cover is up to £15,000 and can be selected at checkout. The actual value of the item/s must reflect the condition of carriage goods at the time, and the declared value must be the actual value of the goods, not more or less.
We must be notified of any claim within 24 hours of the goods being delivered, they will otherwise be void. Whilst all goods travel marked as fragile, note claims will be void if they have been inappropriately packaged (internally or externally) for courier transport and handling, if it is deemed that due to poor internal or external packaging the goods have caused damaged to one another while in transit due to movement against each other or against the external boxed packaging. Please also note all goods must be fully contained within the boxed packaging and any package of weight over 30 kg’s will also be void.
If a claim is found to be successful we will not be responsible for the first £50 of the claim. To ensure a successful claim you must have photographic evidence of the goods and packaging prior to and after the item being shipped, and you must be able to evidence it is the item/s in question. Claims will be considered on evidence of sale or repair value as well as original actual value.
